Study carefully the following ways in which two or more Simple sentences can be combined into one Simple sentence.

By using Adverbs or Adverbial Phrases

Separate : He was unconscious of his faults. His unconsciousness was complete.

Combined : He was wholly (or utterly or completely or quite) unconscious of his faults.

Combine into Simple sentences by using Adverbs or Adverbial phrases.

1. All the the inmates ecaped from the blazing building. This was fortunate.

2. The letter was addressed to the wrong house. It never reached me.

3. He begged for pardon. His request was not granted.

4. The boat was leaking. The sinking of the boat was unavoidable.

5. This boy is the cleverest in the school. No other boy can be compared with him.

6. He invested all his money in a single company. The investment was not a prudent one.

7. They defended themselves against the charge. Their defence was clever. Their defence was resolute.

8. He has been attending school this term. His attendance has been irregular.

9. He dismissed his old ministers and advisers. This was a foolish act.
