Note : It is not always that a conjunction joins. Sometimes, a conjunction can join two sentences with the sentences staying separately. In such cases, the conjunction is placed at the beginning of the second sentence.
That I didn't know what to do. (Not correct)
I made the position clear that I didn't know what to do. (Correct)
It may be noted that a conjunction is not used with just one clause.
