WHERE, WHEN, WHY & HOW - are called Interrogative Adverbs.

WHERE - (adverb - conjunction) - Adverb of place

Meanings :

1. at
2. to or from what / which place, position or situation
3. at or to the place that

Example Sentences :

1. Where do you live?
2. Where did you get that bode?
3. Where is Ranjani?


WHEN : (adverb - conjunction)

Meanings :

1. at what time
2. at that time that

Example Sentences :

1. When will you come?
2. When completed, the new railway will run for 200 miles.
3. When did she come?


WHY : (adverb - conjunction)

Meanings :

1. for what reason

Example Sentences :

1. Why did you do that?
2. Why should we bother waiting any longer?
3. Why don't you ask him yourself?


WHY NOT - used for making suggestions

HOW : (adverb) - Adverb of manner - in questions
HOW : Adverb of degree
HOW MANY - Adverb of number

Meanings :
1. in what way
2. by what means

Example Sentences :

1. How can I get to the university buildings?
2. How is that picture?
3. How could you do such a stupid thing?
4. How can it be that?
5. How much does this cost?
6. How nice she is?
7. How do you do?
8. It depends on how large a salary you earn.
9. I forget how many there are.
