Kinds of Prepositions :



There are three Kinds of Prepositions. They are Simple Prepositions, Compound Prepositions and Phrases Prepositions.

1. Simple Prepositions

The prepositions which have only one word without any prefix and suffix are treated as Simple Prepositions. Few Examples of these Prepositions are given below.

2. Compound Prepositions

These prepositions are formed by adding prefixes or suffixes to other words. Few Examples of these Prepositions are given below.

6. Beneath
7. Beyond
8. Inside
9. Outside
10. Within
11. Without

3. Phrases Prepositions

These Prepositions are formed by grouping few words used with the force of simple Prepositions. Few Examples of these Prepositions are given below.

1. According to
2. In accordance with
3. In case of
4. In control of
5. In lieu of
6. In place of
7. In spite of
8. Instead of
9. With regard to
