Facts You Should Know about Kusum Sarovar
Kusum Sarovar is a deep reservoir of water located in Mathura, India.
Legend has it that it is the meeting point of Lord Krishna and his gopis.
Surrounded by numerous stairs on all sides, there is a magnificent and massive monumental cenotaph, at the backdrop, built by the kings of Bharatpur.
This architectural wonder with its majestic designs and intricate carvings was erected by Jawahar Singh commemorating his father, Raja Suraj Mai, the famous king of Bharatpur.
The principal tomb stands in the centre and is raised on a richly ornamented plinth. This central chhatri (dome) being a square of 57 feet is flanked on both sides by two other monuments commemorating the two queens - Hansiya and Kishori of Raja Suraj Mai.
The building's interior area and ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings depicting the pastimes of Lord Krishna and Radha. It also has larger paintings depicting the events of the royal family s history.
