Object of The Preposition :

Preposition, as we know, is a word that links or connects nouns or pronouns to other words in a sentence. It specifies three things - time, place and direction.

Example : after, under, through, behind, above

Prepositional Phrase is a group of words that begins with a preposition and ends with noun or a pronoun. This noun or pronoun is called the object of the preposition.

Examples of basic prepositional phrases are…

Far from home
The little girl travelled far from home in search of her lost dog.

On schedule
The train was on schedule for the first time.

Behind the school building
They built a huge playing field behind the school building for the students.

Before them
The students had the huge task of completing their work, before them.

1. The fly sat on the edge of the cup.
2. The building is under construction.
3. The phone is out of order.
