Phrases :



Compare these two groups of words.

1. She is using the Internet.
2. on the Internet

The first group of words makes complete sense. It is a sentence.

The second group of words makes some sense, but not complete sense. It is called a phrase. A phrase is a group of words which makes some sense but not complete sense. A phrase does not contain a tense

The following are all phrases.

1. a girl
2. my laptop
3. the girl
4. all these CDs
5. the tall girl
6. very slowly
7. a lovely garden
8. at the bus stop
9. some bread
10. for two months

The following are also phrases.

1. to help her
2. to buy fruit
3. seeing the dog
4. delighted by the news
